Development of the digital computer

Blaise Pascal of France and Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz of Germany invented mechanical digital calculating machines during the 17th century. The English inventor Charles Babbage, however, is generally credited with having conceived the first automatic digital computer. During the 1830s Babbage devised his so-called Analytical Engine, a mechanical device designed to combine basic arithmetic operations with decisions based on its own computations. Babbage’s plans embodied most of the fundamental elements of the modern digital computer. For example, they called for sequential control—i.e., program control that included branching, looping, and both arithmetic and storage units with automatic printout. Babbage’s device, however, was never completed and was forgotten until his writings were rediscovered over a century later.

Google accused of ripping off digital ad technology in U.S. lawsuit

(Reuters) – Alphabet Inc’s Google LLC was hit on Monday with a U.S. lawsuit alleging it copied a smaller firm’s patented digital advertising technology.

Impact Engine Inc filed the complaint in federal court in San Diego, California, alleging various Google online advertising platforms, including Google Ads and Google AdSense, infringed on six patents.

The allegedly violated patents, granted to San Diego-based Impact Engine between 2011 and 2018, relate to so-called “programmatic creative” technology for rapidly producing and customizing online advertisements.

Google did not immediately comment on the case.

According to the complaint, between 2005 and 2007 Google employees expressed interest in partnering with Impact Engine’s co-founders, who disclosed prototypes, documents, and source code.

Impact Engine alleged that, after a series of meetings between the companies, Google copied its

When I am shooting macros on a flat surface I would like a tool like this to assist me. I want something that starts as a flat pane B-C or A2 to C but very easily moves to be A to C with a number of incremental steps en-route. The camera will sit on the A to C plane preferably supported at the C/bottom end. I currently achieve the same purpose with some balancing of objects but nothing I use easily moves from the lower to the upper plane . If i am shooting, insects sudden movement is not a good thing. I feel there must be a commonly used object or a specialised item that will do this for me but I can’t think of anything. Any ideas.

For tabletop close-ups, I’ve

What Is Digital Technology? | Reference.com

Digital technology is a type of transfer that involves breaking a message or form of communication between two machines down into binary code. Binary code consists of all ones and zeros and can be reassembled upon being read by another piece of equipment that utilizes digital technology. This is a contrast to other, older types of technology that used other forms of information transfer and couldn’t move data as quickly.

Digital technology uses digital code to transmit signals and information between different devices. This can be done with things like television programs or human voices. The data is converted into strings of ones and zeros and moved quickly to the next machine, where it is converted back into media form. In older forms of technology, like analog technology, this was done with pulses of electricity. However, analog systems often face size and speed limitations that digital technologies do not.

GADGET-PD Genetic and Digital Diagnosis of Essential Tremor and Parkinson’s Disease Trial – Full Text View

The proposed study will capitalize on the early predictive information stored in an individual’s genetic risk for Parkinson Disease (PD) in combination with the subtle features of tremors that can be extracted from movement data gathered by modern compact accelerometers in order to determine if accurate discrimination of essential tremor (ET) from PD can be achieved. Both of these technologies have a proven but somewhat limited ability to inform diagnosis of PD or differentiation of PD from ET – especially at early stages of the disease. The investigators hypothesize that a combination of prior genetic risk and current disease symptomology can synergize for accurate and early discrimination of PD from ET and ultimately inform a cost effective approach to movement disorder diagnosis.

In this study, the investigators will collect blood from individuals with confirmed late-onset diagnosis of PD and ET. Gold standard diagnosis status will be determined via the Unified
